Objects of power have always existed, hidden in plain sight, remembered in both ancient and urban legend. The world is full of the strange and the supernatural. It's our job to locate, to safeguard, to contain. More often than not that means making sure no one learns the truth about the existence of such artifacts, and to keep the world safe from those who would misuse them.

Misinformation is often the best coverup. Hide the truth among so many conflicting lies that even the most assiduous crackpots and conspiracy theorists find it impossible to separate them from the facts. To misdirect, to obfuscate, that's a real art, and it's what we at the Company do best. But the real unsung heroes are our operatives both at home and in the field. Archaeologists, historians, linguists, occultists, sensitives, security and intelligence personnel actively search the globe to secure unnatural assets for the good of mankind before others can get to them for their own nefarious purposes.

There will be excitement, as well as glamour, and not a little magic. No other job will have you sipping tea in Monaco in the morning and fending off cursed mummies in Karnak in the afternoon. With the Company, you'll have places to go and memories to wipe, all the while collecting priceless artifacts and keeping secrets heads of state don't have the clearance for. But we do not wish to gloss over the clear and present dangers inherent in the job. We are still awaiting word on the final analysis of the event that caused the Quito House, along with our whole South American branch, to vanish a decade or five ago. Yes, compensation is commensurate with the risk, but working for the Company is a calling above all things, to salvage the treasures of humanity's past in order to safeguard our future.

Welcome to The Company. You are one of the enlightened few now. Know that only the best of the best from all the countries of the world get the nod to join us, and that your efforts here will keep others safe. We have every confidence that you'll do just fine.

The Cardiff Motherhouse Staff

Giles is the Majordomo, or Butler, and is in charge of all the male servants, houseboys and lesser household staff. He is an employee of the Motherhouse itself, a legacy in his own way as he is the sixth generation Master Barrowclough the Cardiff Motherhouse has known. As such, he has no purview in The Company's hierarchy, and vice versa. Giles will let you know quite firmly yet politely that he takes orders from no one, seeing as he serves only the interests of the estate itself, and not those of the Company Employees who reside in it. Master Barrowclough makes sure the roofs don't leak and the doors don't creak, among his myriad other responsibilities.

Sylvia, or Mistress Halliwell, is the Housekeeper. She is in charge of all the female servants, maids and lesser household staff, including but not limited to kitchen staff and servers. She's the hand that makes sure everything is clean, fresh, aired and laundered. Mistress Halliwell likes everything in its right place, and with minimal fuss. She's ever ready with a smile and a pleasantry, and she loves jokes. But do not be fooled, for all her effortless grace and easy smiles, if Sylvia were in charge of things, the trains everywhere would run right on time.
